This 21 year anniversary would not be possible without our leader, Mark Fravel and we want to take you back to his why and the reason we are still here today.

The beginnings:
Mark, a single parent of 3 beautiful daughters, wanted to provide for their kids without being on the road all the time. And so, with this passion in mind, a desire to serve and commitment to his family, National Transaction was born.

Near field communication technology (NFC) is on the rise, and consumers can use NFC not just for making payments.

Top ways consumers can use NFC (Near field communications):

Evolution of Electronic Payments

EMV PIN Debit and Tip

The roll out for EMV PIN Debit and Tip Adjust functionalities for the Ingenico Telium POS terminals through a gradual download process begins July 24, 2016. Customers will receive an automatic download following the July release date, or they can go to their appropriate website for instructions to manually update their terminal file.

What to Expect

  • EMV PIN Debit support for Visa, MasterCard, and Discover common Debit AIDs. Note that customers will see new prompts based on how card issuers configure EMV-enabled debit cards.
  • Tip Adjust functionality on the restaurant application.The tip at the time-of-sale prompt will be on by default and will work as it always has. However, if this prompt is bypassed, a blank tip line will print on the receipt. This allows consumers to write the tip amount on the receipt and our customers can adjust as needed.
  • Tip Adjust is supported on credit card transactions only, including magnetic stripe, EMV, key-entered and contactless.

Terminals are ready, but the software isn’t – many merchants have EMV capable equipment, but has not been activated yet because it still needs to be certified.
The certification process includes security and compatibility tests.

For a small merchant, all you need to worry about is your equipment or software is EMV certified.

For software, developers, terminal manufacturers needs to get certification before they can deploy their products to merchants.
So many merchants who want to accept EMV, are now just waiting for their POS system to get necessary upgrades, which they can’t do until they’re certified.

Slower Checkout Time – common complaint by consumers. Dipping takes several seconds longer than swiping the card. There’s also a chance of forgetting your card because you have to leave your card inserted while waiting for the transaction to get approved.

Visa Europe has seen a significant increase in the number of contactless payments (card-present transaction) that it has processed this year, it nearly tripled to three billion.

Visa Europe attributed this increase to merchants integrating tap and pay into their checkout process.

This significant increase was largely due to London’s adoption of contactless technology. The contactless payments were also attributed to the launch of Apple Pay, urging consumers to adopt new payment methods.

Setting the stage for tomorrow’s technology, like wearable devices and mobile payment services making today’s achievement possible.

The credit card industry in the U.S. underwent a liability shift October 1st of 2015. The one major exception to the October 2015 liability shift has been automated fuel dispensers. Automated payment terminals at the pumps were given until October of 2017, to comply with the new standard.

Upgrading a gas pump payment terminal is more expensive than what other retailers face upgrading a typical credit card reader.
• First, the cost of replacing the payment terminal itself.
• After replacing gas station’s payment terminal, it also needs to re-certify the entire pump, which costs additional time and money.
• Gas pumps also have to be certified by state officials, to make sure that they are dispensing and charging correctly.

Consumers need to be vigilant while gas stations are getting a break, the card might be exposed to counterfeit credit card fraud, because whenever the card is swiped the traditional way using the mag-stripe, that EMV chip is not doing anything.
